Sheri Moon Zombie in "The Lords of Salem" |
The Lords of Salem, opening this Friday, April 19th, at selected theaters around the United States.
Self styled horror director Rob Zombie (Robert Bartleh Cummings) brings another low budget horror flick to the big screen. Staring his wife, Sheri Moon Zombie, the "Lords of Salem" is slim on details but here is what we know.
"Heidi DJs at the local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the ‘Big H Radio Team’. A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, "a gift from the Lords". She assumes it's a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma. Later, Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with listeners. The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon Heidi and her cohorts find that the gig is far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting; the original Lords of Salem are returning, and they’re out for blood." [1]Heidi, is of course played by Zombie's wife Sheri while Jeff Daniel Phillips plays Herman "Whitey" Salvador. You may remember Phillips from his Geico's Caveman commercials. the other Herman is played by Ken Foree. His credits include George Romero's 1978 classic "Dawn of the Dead," as well as Zac Snyder's remake in 2004. Foree was also in 1989's "Leatherface: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre III," and in the 2008 Serbian flick "Zone of the Dead."
Setting the back story during the notorious Court of Oyer and Terminer in 1692, it makes it clear that the "Lords" have returned.
