Riffing off of "The Pirates of the Carribean," look, Edgar Wright's third in the series of comedies that star Nick Frost and Simon Pegg is gearing up the promotional machinery with "The World's End."
If you liked 2004's "Shaun of the Dead" , "Hot Fuzz," from 2007, and or "Paul" you might want to check "The World's End."
The story goes something like this:
"20 years after attempting an epic pub crawl, five childhood friends reunite when one of them becomes hellbent on trying the drinking marathon again. They are convinced to stage an encore by mate Gary King (Simon Pegg), a 40-year-old man trapped at the cigarette end of his teens, who drags his reluctant pals to their hometown and once again attempts to reach the fabled pub - The World's End. As they attempt to reconcile the past and present, they realise the real struggle is for the future, not just theirs but humankind's. Reaching The World's End is the least of their worries." ~ Working Title FilmsIn this film, "The World's End" takes on a double meaning. It is the last pub on the list of their pub crawl itinerary, and secondly the name is a harbinger to the possible en of the human race. Along with Pegg and Frost, the film stars Martin Freeman ("The Hobbit," "The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy"), Paddy Considine ("The Bourne Ultimatum"), and Rosamund Pike ("Jack Reacher," "Wrath of the Titans," "Die Another Day")
I can only surmise, based off this initial tidbits that "The Worlds End" is some sort of speculative post-apocalyptic fiction in the vein of either social, cultural, or natural order.
