Snowpiercer ~ The Future of the Human Race

Snowpiercer ~ The Future of the Human Race | A Constantly Racing Mind

Not all Science Fiction contains monsters, giant robots, spaceships, or even aliens. Sometimes, when we take a peek at the future, we take a look at ourselves and how we deal with the mess we created. That mess may be even more frightening than what comes from the sky or from deep below the ocean. "Snowpiercer" is that kind of film. Korean director Bong Joon-ho gives us his fifth feature film. This is also his first film in English. After Bong Joon-ho read Jacques Lob and Jean-Marc Rochette's graphic novel "Le Transperceneige," he decided that he wanted to make it into a feature film.

Snowpiercer ~ Land of Snow and Ice | A Constantly Racing Mind

The story centers around a future where humans lost the war against Global Warming and the world is a frozen wasteland. The survivors live on a train that circles the Earth about once every year..
"In a future where a failed global-warming experiment kills off most life on the planet, a class system evolves aboard the Snowpiercer, a train that travels around the globe via a perpetual-motion engine."
Snowpiercer ~ Chris Evans | A Constantly Racing Mind

The film stars Chris Evans ("The Avengers," "Captain America: The First Avenger," "Sunshine"), Jamie Bell ("The Eagle," "Defiance"), John Hurt ("Alien," "1984"), Tilda Swinton ("Constantine," "The Chronicles of Narnia"), Octavia Spencer ("The Help") and Ed Harris ("The Right Stuff," "The Abyss").

Unlike the film "Elysium," where two social classes live in separate worlds. The poor in the slums of Earth, and the haves or the rich live on the space station known as Elysium. In "Snowpiercer," the class warfare begins and stays on the train, as that is the only place that humanity can survive. The train travels around the globe and is powered by a sacred perpetual-motion engine.

Here is the second international trailer that features Chris Evans:

The Weinstein Company has the distribution rights in the United States. No U.S. date is set, however, "Snowpiercer" is due out in Korea on August 1st, 2013
